After one week of cycling we are getting closer to the wildfire region in the Balkans. „The Croatian Adriatic coast, particularly the islands, is a typical example of an area where the common interconnection between water (precipitation) and fire is fully expressed. https://www.climatechangepost.com/croatia/forest-fires/

We are finally on the road - 3 days, 300 kilometers and 4,200 meters altitude. So far, our route has led us through three Austrian provinces, Lower Austria, Styria, and Carinthia to Kranj, the capital of the Slovenian Alps. The bottle of water from the flood regions has survived the journey, although we had to cycle back to pick it up, switch it from my bicycle to Silke‘s, and pack it tightly so that it doesn‘t fall off the back rack. In Trattenbach, Lower Austria, we had the opportunity to stay at the farmhouse of a vegan activist and in Graz, Styria we stayed with a rainbow family that is car-free and ecologically aware. Both encounters led to long talks and hope for the future. Our bottle of water is just a symbolic drop to alleviate the helplessness - and conversations, and cycling, and not giving up.

Floods to Fires - From the flood areas to the forest fires! We will bicycle roughly 2000 km to Greece for the rebuilding of the Ahr valley. We will carry a bottle of water from the flood zone with us, symbolically bringing the flood (water) to the fires. We will also maintain contact with the groups helping in the town of Ahrweiler and provide regular updates on the rebuilding activities to maintain awareness of the devastated region. Planned ar
